This painting was executed for the "Fakes and Forgeries" exhibit at Spring Bull Gallery in Newport, RI. The original work was produced by George Bellows in 1919 in Middletown, RI. I have always been enamoured with this work from the first time I saw it.  Compared to the body of work that Bellows was known for, this work represents a clear departure of his talent...one that fascinates and inspires the use of an entirely different palette.
